In Financial Services, Trust Is the Brand. We Help You Build It.

Financial services is one of the most crowded and consequential brand categories in the world. Every company claims to be trusted, secure, and customer-first. Almost none of them say anything that makes a buyer stop and think. The ones that do have figured out something that most haven’t: in financial services, brand isn’t marketing. It’s more like infrastructure. It’s the reason someone moves their money, signs the contract, or recommends you to a colleague.

WANT has been building financial services brands for over 25 years — for banks, fintech companies, investment firms, capital markets businesses, and financial technology platforms. We understand the regulatory environment, the credibility requirements, and the specific challenge of building a brand that can speak to institutional buyers and individual customers without losing its power in either direction.

What's Changing in Financial Services

01

Trust is harder to earn — and easier to lose — than ever before.

AI-driven fraud now constitutes 42.5% of all detected fraud attempts in the financial sector — and consumers know it. In an environment where deepfakes and synthetic identities are real threats, the financial services brands that win aren’t the ones with the most sophisticated technology. They’re the ones whose brand communicates credibility before a single interaction takes place. When MetaBank needed a new name after Meta paid them $60 million to relinquish theirs, the brand challenge was acute: rebuild institutional credibility and customer trust around a new identity, fast. WANT developed the Pathward brand — a name and story that signaled stability, forward momentum, and genuine banking values without a trace of the tech-company baggage the old name had acquired.

02

Consolidation and PE investment are creating a constant stream of new entities that need brands.

Private equity has transformed financial services. Roll-ups, carve-outs, spinoffs, and newly formed platforms are launching every quarter — each one needing to establish credibility in a market where trust takes years to build. Despite double-digit growth in global revenues and global assets under management reaching record highs, profitability has only seen marginal single-digit growth — meaning newly formed financial services entities are under immediate pressure to differentiate on something other than price. Brand is often the fastest lever available. We’ve done this work for Reef Capital Partners, Rubicon Carbon, Tradecraft, and Concora — each a newly formed or repositioned entity that needed credibility before it had a track record.

03

The line between financial services and technology is gone — and the brand has to reflect it.

By 2026, over half of under-50 consumers seeking financial advice will turn to generative AI tools, forcing financial institutions to experiment with AI-driven services within strict risk limits. Meanwhile embedded finance is turning non-financial brands into financial services providers and traditional institutions into infrastructure. The category is blurring in every direction. Financial services brands that cling to legacy positioning — solid, established, conservative — risk becoming invisible to the buyers who matter most. The ones that get it right find the positioning that is credible to institutional buyers and compelling to a generation that expects more from every brand they trust with their money.

Financial Services — Brand Strategy, Brand Naming, Brand Identity

For nearly two decades, Reef Capital Partners had quietly built one of the most impressive portfolios in luxury real estate — including Black Desert Resort and the Tiger Woods–designed golf course at Marcella — but their brand hadn’t kept pace with their growth.

WANT developed “Expect the Best,” a positioning rooted in what set Reef apart: sharp deal structuring, deep investor relationships, and uncompromising luxury experiences. A refined identity, clear brand architecture, and a new website brought Reef’s market presence in line with the world’s premier real estate names.
